Calcutta-Kolkata, 2020. Oil on Canvas, 50x 70 cm.

Artwork Description: The artwork portrays the anachronistic sight of West Bengal’s revered city, Kolkata, famously known as the city of Joy. Subtly, I tried to unveil the nuances in a busy street of antiquated Calcutta, depicting its inhabitants’ chores. The vibrant colors used in the painting set a tone that exhibits the city in its own authenticity. The sheer motive of mine in emulating my thoughts of early Kolkata on canvas is to set forth how civilization transforms over the years. Still, the culture that builds a community remains intact and unvexed.
